Car down embankment hid 2 bodies off busy Charlotte road, homicide investigators say

Police found two bodies in a car down an embankment off busy Atando Avenue in north Charlotte Saturday morning and said they were investigating the deaths as homicides.

Late Saturday, police identified the man and woman as Siojvon Joseph and Asa Shannon, both 35.

Officers said they found the victims dead in the car, after someone called 911 about 6:50 a.m. to report having seen the vehicle, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release.

The car was found in the 1400 block of Atando Avenue, just east of Statesville Avenue and Interstate 77.

CMPD homicide detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses later Saturday morning.

Police are not saying if they know how the victims died but asked that anyone with information call the homicide unit at 704-432-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest, police said.
