The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers minor league baseball team on Wednesday announced a 10-year partnership with Atrium Health that includes naming the city’s new baseball stadium Atrium Health Ballpark.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

“We are thrilled that one of the team’s and area’s biggest and longest supporters has committed to the Cannon Ballers and Kannapolis’s success in this significant way,” General Manager Matt Millward said in a statement.

Fans can watch the action in the new stadium from traditional fixed seats, family picnic areas, loge boxes and an elevated Sky Lounge. The ballpark also features a 20,000 square foot children’s area built around a custom three-story Berliner play structure and an interactive splash pad.

Besides hosting Cannon Ballers games in the 4,930-seat stadium, the team plans to provide music concerts and community events, Millward said. On non-game days, the venue will be open to the public as a Kannapolis park from sunrise to sunset, he said.

April 16 is opening day for the Cannon Ballers.

Atrium Health will provide game day medical care in the stadium and inside the Atrium Health First Aid Suite on the concourse level. Parents who need privacy can visit the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Mothers’ Room near the first aid suite. Atrium Health also intends to sponsor health fairs and provide preventive health care information, according to the team’s announcement.

Stadium visitors can also take a lap around the concourse and count their steps on the Atrium Health Walking track, near the play area.
