Teen pedestrian hit by car while crossing street in Fort Mill, police say

A teen was hurt Friday evening in Fort Mill after being hit by a car while crossing a street, police said.

The pedestrian crash happened before 6 p.m. on Pleasant Road near the intersection of Whitley Road, Fort Mill police officials said.

The 14-year-old male was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment after the collision, said Maj. Bryan Zachary of the Fort Mill Police Department.

The teen was struck by the car while apparently attempting to cross the roadway, Zachary said.

Officials have not identified the teen. His condition was unavailable Saturday morning, Zachary said.

The intersection is near Pleasant Knoll Elementary School and near Pleasant Knoll Middle School, between S.C. 160 and Gold Hill Road.

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues, Zachary said.
