Live video replay: Snow falling in uptown Charlotte ahead of the evening commute
A wintry mix of rain and sleet moved in to the Charlotte area early afternoon Thursday.
Live video from the Charlotte Observer’s office at the NASCAR Plaza office tower in uptown captured footage of the weather system that’s expected to drop snow and rain across the region into Thursday night. Snow accumulation is forecast to be minimal, with about a half-inch expected.

It’s possible some areas in the Piedmont could see up to two inches of snow, while black ice is becoming increasingly likely for the Friday morning commute, forecasters said.
