Teen killed on 4-wheeler despite adult supervision, Charlotte cops say

A 14-year-old boy whose 4-wheeler rolled over on him while under adult supervision died at a hospital on Saturday, police said.

Amari Ford wrecked while riding on private property near the 5600 block of Stardust Drive around 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 15, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release. That’s off Oakdale Road in northwest Charlotte.

Amari was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from the vehicle, police said.

Police have not said if they know what caused Amari to wreck or if anyone will face charges, but they called the investigation “active and ongoing.”
