Former vice president Joe Biden won Mecklenburg County in Tuesday’s presidential Democratic primary.
Biden captured 45% of the vote here, claiming nearly all of the county’s 195 voting precincts. Bernie Sanders won seven precincts, according to unofficial N.C. State Board of Elections results.
Biden gained particularly strong support in areas north of uptown. For instance, in two precincts near Interstate 85 and East Sugar Creek Road, Biden won more than 63% or the vote — his highest percentages in Mecklenburg.
