Man found dead in University City apartment in Charlotte

A 43-year-old male died after being found shot in an apartment in University City in northeast Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Police identified the victim as Lamar McNeil.

The shooting happened around 8:51 p.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Wit Way, which is in the College Downs area off East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male with a gunshot wound in an apartment,” a CMPD release said. “He was transported to the hospital by medic and later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.”
