Celebrating Passover amid coronavirus – virtually
Eight-year-old Micah Knight and brother Jonas Knight, 4, helped to prepare the table for their first virtual Passover Seder on Wednesday.
The family and the congregation are practicing social distancing due to the coronavirus.
The boys, who are the sons of Rabbi Asher Knight and Rabbi Ana Bonnheim, held Seder online with family members in Texas, California and Washington.
Rabbi Knight and colleagues will lead a second virtual Seder Thursday evening with their Temple Beth El congregation, which numbers about 1,000 families, making it the largest in the Carolinas.
Knight says that, while they didn’t request an RSVP from families who will attend the virtual Seder, they’ve had more than 60,000 online engagements in the last three weeks.
