2 CMPD officers hit by fleeing driver in east Charlotte early Friday
Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were hit it by a driver early Friday who moments earlier smashed through a barricade where an off-duty Mecklenburg County ABC officer was working.
The CMPD officers weren’t seriously hurt, and the driver was soon arrested after a “low-speed chase,” police said.
Police have not released the driver’s name or age.
The driver hit the officers about 4 a.m. on Briar Creek Road near Independence Boulevard, police said. After going through the barricade, the driver stopped and “was acting very irrational,” police said.
The two CMPD officers went to arrest the driver and were hit when the suspect started to drive away, according to CMPD.
The driver was arrested on Morehead Street near Calvert Street.
