Motorcyclist dies after running off road and flipping on N. Brevard Street, CMPD says
A hospitalized motorcyclist has died of injuries suffered in a Friday night motorcycle crash on North Brevard Street, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Zachary William Brown Mackinnon died Sunday afternoon at Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, CMPD says.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. Friday, near North Brevard Street and Parkwood Avenue, police said. No other vehicles were involved, police said.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the Harley Davidson was traveling southwest on N. Brevard Street when it ran off the roadway after entering the curve just prior to Parkwood Avenue. After the Harley Davidson ran off the road, it struck a bush causing the victim to lose control and overturn,” the release said.
“The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Both speed and alcohol use are believed to be contributing factors in this incident. ... This is an ongoing, active investigation.”
