Body of missing boater recovered on Lake Norman identified
The body of a missing boater was found on Lake Norman Sunday afternoon.
Several rescue crews searched for hours at an area near Stonemarker Road in Mooresville at a spot commonly known as “no man’s land,” according to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
Officials say the area is called “no man’s land” because there is no jurisdiction for any particular recovery agency.
Wildlife officials say they recovered the body of 41-year-old Gregory Moore who had been tubing with three of his friends when he fell off. He never resurfaced.
Officer Lee, with the NC Wildlife Commission, says Moore was not wearing a safety jacket.
Huntersville Fire Department tweeted out earlier that it was on its way to assist the Denver, Cornelius, Mooresville, Iredell, Lake Norman, Charlotte and Sherrills Ford fire departments, along with other emergency responders, in searching for a missing person on the lake.
No other information was provided.
