Charlotte has recorded six homicides in less than two weeks, as the total killed in 2020 has surpassed 40, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police data show.
On Wednesday, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at an east Charlotte apartment complex. There, they found Tierra Shontinae Watson, 28, stabbed to death.
Last week, police responded to a shooting at the intersection of Monroe and North Sharon Amity roads in southeast Charlotte. Ray Bernard McLean III, 27, was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He died later that day.
And on June 10, two days before McLean III died, Marcus Withers was shot an killed on Skyland Avenue, south of uptown, between Randolph and Monroe roads.
Charlotte has had 44 homicides so far this year.
