Mecklenburg County Parks & Rec will reopen more pools and summer camps in June
Mecklenburg County announced Phase 2 of its reopening plans for Parks and Recreation on Tuesday.
County driving ranges reopened Saturday and golf courses, parks and greenways have also been open. But beginning June 15, more locations will be open to the public:
▪ From June 15 until Aug. 14, summer camps will begin with limited slots.
▪ The Park and Recreation Nature Preserves & Natural Resources Division will also offer summer programs in July and August.
▪ In mid-June, the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center will open weekdays and Double Oaks pool will open on the weekends. Spraygrounds will remain closed.
NC Governor Roy Cooper’s order regarding mass gatherings for outdoor activities — no more than 25 people can gather and must adhere to social distancing — are still in effect. The county says sporting fields and courts for baseball, basketball and multi-purpose use will not be used for team practices or games. Tennis and pickleball courts will remain open.
