Check this out: Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to begin reopening June 1
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will begin the first of four planned reopening phases on June 1.
Under the first phase of the reopening plan, limited services of holds, pickups and returns will be available at each branch location, with only one customer being served at a time.
Other customers will wait six feet apart in a line outside. Staff will be present to encourage customers to socially distance and to inform customers of services that are available.
Staff will wear face coverings or masks and protective equipment. For customers, masks are optional but encouraged.
Book drops will remain closed, but receptacles will be available to return books and other materials. All checkouts will be self-checkouts. There will be no fines or fees during this phase of reopening.
During this initial phase of the reopening process, computers will not be available and all event and room reservations have been canceled. All scheduled events, programming and the Job Help Center have been moved online until further notice.
The library will be open during its regular summer hours from 9 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Other in-person services will be returned over the next weeks and months as it is safe to do so.
Phase two of the reopening plan is set to begin on July 1.
