Myrtle Beach police are asking the public for help locating a missing girl.

Jalene Olivia Coward is 13 and is described as being about 5-feet-6-inches tall, weighing 97 lbs with braces and brown/black braids with red/pink extensions on the tips. Her braids were up in a bun and she was wearing a hot pink tube top and black shorts when she last was seen, according Myrtle Beach police spokesman Lt. Joey Crosby.

Police said Jalene is on vacation in Myrtle Beach with her family. Family friends said she is from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Police are looking for information on two cars in connection with Jalene’s disappearance – a red Chevrolet Impala with chrome rims and a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Officers responded to the Palace Resort at 1605 S. Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach on Saturday. Police were told that at about 8:45 p.m. Jalene left the room to take the trash to the trash chute and did not return. Family members told police Jalene was preparing to go to an arcade before she disappeared.

Investigators say they received information that Jalene may have spoken to the occupants of the Impala prior to his disappearance. Investigators also say the Grand Marquis was seen in the area during the time.

Family members also have created a page on Facebook at http://on.fb.me/1FV7oiE to help locate Jalene.

Anyone with information about Jalene, or either of the cars, is asked to contact the police department at 918-1382.
