Man found dead in Charlotte parking lot on Saturday. Someone shot him, cops say.

A man found dead in a Charlotte parking lot Saturday morning had been fatally shot, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in reporting the city’s 62nd homicide of the year.

Police found the victim with a gunshot wound at about 6 a.m. in the 6200 block of Balsam Fir Drive, according to a CMPD news release. The location is off Albemarle Road in east Charlotte.

Saturday night, police identified the victim as 25-year-old Rahim Martin-Byrd. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Police have not said if they have a suspect, describing the investigation only as “active and ongoing.”
