11,000 Charlotte area customers without power
About 11,000 Duke Energy customers in the Charlotte area were without power Saturday after strong storms swept through the region, knocking down trees and power lines.
Cabarrus County was hardest hit, with 3,710 customers reported without power as of 6 p.m.
Mecklenburg County had 3,214 customers without power, while Lincoln and Rowan counties each had about 1,400 customers experiencing outages.
Nearly 900 customers in Cleveland County lost power and about 750 in Iredell County.
