2 killed, 1 injured in Newton crash

Two people were killed Sunday morning in a traffic crash in Newton, 40 miles northwest of Charlotte.

A tractor-trailer traveling east on N.C. 10 near Jarrett Farm Road struck a Toyota Yaris traveling the other way at 6:30 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota, Tammy Norman Frady, and the passenger, Albert Lynn Frady, were killed in the crash. Police did not give their ages or where they lived. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2012 Freightliner Cascadia truck, was flown to Carolinas Medical Center Main by Med Center Air. The driver’s identification and condition are being withheld pending notification to out-of-state family members.

Newton police said the investigation was ongoing.
