Coroner identifies second body found in Lake Wylie as Fort Mill man

The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the second man whose body was pulled from Lake Wylie on Monday.

Dana Franklin, 60, of Fort Mill, was found floating about 15 feet from shore near River Hills Marina Monday morning. Cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology.

A fisherman found Franklin floating in the water about 6 a.m. and called for help, according to previous reports. He was fully clothed.

The man who found Franklin said he had just seen him Sunday night at the community swimming pool.

Franklin was the second person found dead in the lake Monday. About 4:30 a.m., divers found the body of 19-year-old Jeremiah Tate just under the Buster Boyd Bridge. Tate, a counselor at Camp Thunderbird, had jumped from the bridge into the water with another camp counselor, and was found in the water below the bridge.
