One person killed, three seriously injured in head-on crash in Charlotte, police say

One person is dead and three are seriously injured following a head-on crash in northeast Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Shortly after 1:58 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision near the 7400 block of Grier Road. When officers arrived, they found a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a 2006 Ford Econoline van, both with heavy front damage, police said.

Pablo Dominguez, 35, and two juveniles were in the pickup. They were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the van, 29-year-old Albert Bradford Jr., was pronounced dead on the scene by Medic, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined that Bradford was traveling west on Grier Road when the van ran off to the right of the road. Bradford overcorrected and crossed into oncoming traffic striking the front of the Chevrolet, police said. Bradford was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Inattentiveness and Bradford’s failure to use a seatbelt are contributing factors for this crash, police said. No contributing factors on Dominguez’s part have been determined, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it can contact Detective Kupfer at 704-432-2169, extension 1. Information also can be left anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
