1 arrested after 5 people were shot in Charlotte; search underway for 2nd suspect, car
Five adults were taken to a hospital, four with serious injuries, after a shooting in southeast Charlotte on Friday night, police said.
All five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Just before 10 p.m. Friday, police responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3100 block of Marney Avenue, CMPD said. That’s in the Grier Heights neighborhood, near Randolph Road.
Officers arrived and found multiple victims had been shot by a known individual and “an unknown shooter,” police said.
On Saturday, police said they had arrested Davion Larome Redfearn, 40, in connection with the shooting. He was charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office website.
A search is underway for the driver of a silver Mazda sedan with Florida license plate number BKVU51, police said.
CMPD has not released a motive for the shooting.
