SWAT arrests barricaded suspect in north Charlotte after hours-long standoff, police say

A SWAT team used non-lethal munitions to arrest a barricaded suspect inside a north Charlotte home on Tuesday, police said.

Just before 6:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives arrived at a home in the 6500 block of Forest Cross Drive to serve warrants against the suspect, according to a CMPD news release. The occupants of the home came out and told police the suspect was inside.

After several attempts to get the suspect to surrender, the SWAT team arrived. The suspect did not respond to negotiators, and after several hours of silence, SWAT deployed non-lethal chemical munitions. The suspect still did not respond, police said.

SWAT members then entered the home and found the suspect hiding inside, police said. No officers used their service weapons, CMPD said.

Police said the suspect’s name will will be released after charges are filed.
