More typical summer weather returning to Charlotte

After a mild start to the week with below normal temperatures and low humidity, more typical summer weather is expected to return Tuesday, with greater humidity and highs climbing into the low 90s.

Unsettled weather also will begin to return Tuesday and continue into the weekend, as a series of upper disturbances moves through the Southern Appalachians and the Carolinas, according to the National Weather Service’s weekly weather impact briefing.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the week, with the chance increasing from a slim 20 percent Tuesday to 40 percent Thursday.

Highs are forecast to dip into the high 80s Wednesday and Thursday.

The Fourth of July weekend is forecast to be seasonably warm, with highs inching back up to 90 Friday and 92 Saturday, with a 30 percent chance of afternoon storms both days.

Sunday could reach 93 and Monday 94.
