Great Smoky Mountains road, campground reopen after flooding
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have reopened the Cosby entrance road, campground and picnic area, after flood damage closed the area June 22.
Park maintenance crews cleared rocks and debris from the road and repaired over 1,000 feet of road shoulders, park officials said.
The shoulder areas had been washed out up to 6 feet deep, exposing underground utility lines. All electric and water services have been restored, officials said.
