As the cost of college continues to rise, some companies have implemented tuition assistance programs to provide employees the opportunity to continue their education.
UNC Charlotte recently announced a partnership with Amazon that will give hourly employees free tuition for any of the university’s bachelor’s degree programs.
Here are 10 other companies that offer tuition assistance and scholarships to their workers.
AT&T
Management and non-management employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement for certain degree programs. The company invested more than $15 million in tuition assistance for employees in 2020.
Chipotle
Since 2019, Chipotle has covered 100% of tuition costs for employees through a partnership with Guild Education. Their program also offers access to online programs from accredited universities and personalized coaching support for participants.
Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A employees have access to scholarships and tuition discounts at more than 100 schools nationwide. Last year, more than 7,000 employees across 47 states received scholarships totaling $19 million.
Home Depot
Salaried employees at Home Depot can receive up to $5,000, full-time workers up to $3,000 and part-time hourly employees up to $1,500 per year in tuition reimbursement to complete a degree.
McDonald’s
Managers at McDonald’s can request up to $5,250 in tuition reimbursement per year, and part-time employees can receive up to $2,500. Part-time employees must work an average of 15 hours per week to be considered eligible for the program.
Publix
The tuition reimbursement program at Publix covers up to $4,000 per year in expenses for undergraduate and graduate programs, individual courses, online programs and technical training. Any employee with 90 days of continuous service and works an average of 10 hours per week is eligible for the program.
Starbucks
Full-time and part-time employees seeking a bachelor’s degree for the first time are eligible for 100% tuition coverage for online programs at Arizona State University.
Target
All part-time and full-time employees are eligible for debt-free assistance for select undergraduate degree and certificate programs. Participating employees do not have to pay any out-of-pocket costs and have flexibility to find opportunities that align with their interests, the company announced last year.
Walmart
Last year, Walmart announced it will cover 100% of college tuition and books for associates through its Live Better U education program. The company plans to invest nearly $1 billion over the next five years in career-driven training and development.
Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo employees can receive up to $5,000 annually for eligible tuition expenses. The company also offers scholarships to children of employees ranging from $1,000 to $3,000.
