Caitlyn the dog is doing well, back in foster home in Charleston

Charleston Animal Society

Caitlyn the dog is on her way to a happy ending.

The 15-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier mix was found at the end of May in North Charleston with black electrical tape wrapped so tightly around her muzzle that her lips and tongue required surgery. She went through serious medical care to treat her injuries, losing the tip of her tongue and part of her lip in the process, reports the Post and Courier.

But after a week of evaluation at the Charleston Animal Society, she’s doing great. She’s moved back in with her foster family and will stay there until the cruelty case is resolved – even though hundreds of people have offered to adopt her.

Kay Hyman, a spokeswoman for the animal society, told the Post and Courier that Caitlyn is a little afraid of men after what she went through but is very well adjusted.

William Leonard Dodson of North Charleston was charged with animal cruelty in relation to Caitlyn’s case. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. According to an arrest affidavit acquired by the Post and Courier, he taped Caitlyn’s mouth shut so he wouldn’t hear her barking anymore.
