Police investigating if two hotel robberies linked

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating whether two apparent hotel robberies within 40 minutes Thursday evening are linked.

The second robbery of the Drury Inn and Suites in University City ended with a female employee being shot and taken to Carolinas Medical Center, said CMPD Capt. Brian Foley.

“The employee was conscious and alert,” Foley said. “We don’t know the status of the injuries. The incident appears to be a robbery.”

Investigators are looking into whether a hotel robbery in the North Tryon area 40 minutes earlier is linked to the second.
