Charlotte driver charged after woman, 24, killed on Albemarle Road

A man has been charged in the death of 24-year-old woman who was hit by a car in east Charlotte last week, police said.

Lizeth Quiroz-Nunez was struck by a 2021 Toyota Camry while walking in the eastbound lanes of Albemarle Road on Friday around 2 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a news release on Monday. She died at the scene of the wreck.

The driver of the Toyota, 25-year-old Timothy McNeill, remained at the scene until authorities arrived, police said. McNeill was not hurt, but his front seat passenger had minor injuries, according to police.

He’s been charged with felony death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and driving while license revoked, police said. Results of a toxicology examine are pending, according to CMPD. He was also operating a vehicle with a suspended NC driver’s license, police said.
