An NC lottery player just won the ‘unique prize’ of $1,000 a day for life, but who?
A “lucky” lottery player in Gaston County could receive $1,000 a day for the rest of their life, but they’ll have to claim their prize first, lottery officials said Thursday.
The winner bought the Lucky for Life ticket online in Gastonia on Wednesday, N.C. Education Lottery officials said in a news release.
“What an amazing win for a lucky player in North Carolina,” lottery Executive Director Mark Michalko said in the news release. “That is such a unique prize.”
Two prize options are on the table for the winner: an annuity that pays $365,000 a year for the rest of their life or a lump sum of $5.75 million.
The winning numbers from Wednesday’s drawing were 1, 17, 25, 27, 42 and the Lucky Ball was 10.
The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls and the Lucky Ball are 1 in 30.8 million, according to the lottery’s website. The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize.
Another top prize for the daily game would be $25,000 for life, the lottery’s website said.
Lucky for Life is one of four games — including Powerball, Mega Millions and Cash 5 — where players can buy their tickets online through the lottery’s website.
