3 hurt amid crowd panic when gunfire reported at NC high school football game, cops say

Three people were hurt when they fell amid a crowd panic when gunshots were reported at a North Carolina high school football game on Friday night, police and witnesses said.

“No shots were fired at the Salisbury High School stadium during the Salisbury-West Rowan high school game, and no guns were found, Salisbury Police later determined.

Witnesses “described a chaotic scene” after some in the crowd thought they heard gunshots, WSOC reported.

Football players stayed low to the field on their stomachs, a photo sent to the station by a viewer showed.

Police and Rowan-Salisbury Schools employees got all students off campus, and the game was canceled, police said on Facebook.

Police urged anyone with information about what sparked the reports of gunshots to send the department a private Facebook message.
