Survey: How much student debt do you have? Will Biden forgiveness plan help?

Student debt distress

Overwhelmed North Carolina borrowers are hoping for relief. Will it happen?

Among North Carolina’s largest counties, Mecklenburg is fourth-highest for the average amount of student loan debt. The average person with student debt in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County pays around $310 per month.

As The Charlotte Observer reported earlier this summer in “Student Debt Distress,” a typical Black household in America is saddled with more debt than the average white household. Now, some relief may be on the way with President Joe Biden reportedly prepared to grant $10,000 in undergraduate federal loan forgiveness.

We’re continuing to report on this topic and could use your help. If you have student loan debt or recently paid it off, please let us know your experiences in this survey below, hosted on Google Forms. (If you’re having trouble viewing it, you may click here.)
