Deck collapses at beach house; at least 14 injured
At least 14 people were injured Saturday night when a deck collapsed at a beach house in Emerald Isle on the N.C. coast, fire officials said.
Three or four of those were critically injured, Emerald Isle Fire Chief Bill Walker told the Observer. All 14 were taken to Carteret General Hospital, Walker said, adding that the deck collapsed because too many people were on it.
Emerald Isle is in Carteret County on the Bogue Banks barrier island of the southern Outer Banks. Katherine Peralta
