Victim shot ‘multiple times’ in Charlotte late Friday night has died, police say
A person died after someone shot him “multiple times” in northeast Charlotte late Friday, police said.
Officers found the victim after responding to a report of a person “suffering from an injury” just before 10 p.m., the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported on Twitter. Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene, police said.
The killing in the 12900 block of Deaton Hill Drive was the city’s 86th homicide of the year, according to a Charlotte Observer data analysis.
That’s off Ridge Road north of Interstate 485 and Mallard Creek Road.
CMPD described the victim only as “a male” and didn’t say how old he was.
Police on Saturday also didn’t name the victim or say if they have a suspect. Police also haven’t said if they know what prompted the shooting.
This is a developing story.
