Hot, muggy weather continues, with little chance of rain for Charlotte
The Charlotte area will remain mostly sunny and steamy again Wednesday, with a high of 94 expected and only a slight chance of rain Wednesday night.
Only 17.44 inches of rain have fallen this year, compared with 21.42 inches normally, and little or no precipitation is in the forecast through the weekend.
Drought is officially back in Mecklenburg County and the rest of the state for the first time in at least two years.
Highs, meanwhile, are expected to stay in the mid-90s the rest of the week, inching up to 96 Thursday, 95 Friday, then 94 Saturday and 95 Sunday.
The next decent chance for rain is Tuesday, but even then, the forecast calls for only a 30 percent of showers and thunderstorms.
