Someone in North Carolina scored a $1 million Mega Millions prize in Friday’s drawing and may not realize they won, as lottery officials said Saturday that no one immediately claimed it.

The winning $2 ticket matched the numbers on the five white balls, according to a lottery news release.

That beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million, according to the Mega Millions page on NCLottery.com.

The player bought the ticket at the Handy Mart convenience store on U.S. 70 West in Goldsboro, officials said.

The winner has six months to claim the prize.

The buyers of two tickets, one in California and the other in Florida, will split Friday’s $494 million jackpot, according to the lottery. That resets the Mega Millions jackpot to $20 million in Tuesday’s drawing, officials said.

Mega Millions jackpot will reset to $20 million as an annuity prize or $10 million cash. Odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.

The Powerball jackpot stands at $454 million in the Saturday, Oct. 15, drawing.
