Signal will calm traffic at this busy Charlotte intersection, officials say

A traffic signal is scheduled to “go live” Wednesday to make driving safer along a busy stretch of Sugar Creek Road north of uptown, Charlotte Department of Transportation officials said.

The signal at The Roman Road began flashing Thursday to make drivers aware of the light, CDOT said on Twitter.

This is the first signal at the location.

Previously, officials tried to use poles to eliminate certain left and right turns across Sugar Creek Road, in front of Cookout and other businesses.

Drivers often have used the wide median area to conduct U-Turns.
