CMS buses could be delayed due to I-77 helicopter crash, officials say. What we know.

Traffic delays after a helicopter crash off Interstate 77 in south Charlotte on Tuesday may delay CMS buses from getting students home from school on time, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Parents who pick up their children may also be delayed in getting to schools, CMS officials said.

Tuesday was the last day of classes for CMS students before the Thanksgiving holiday break.

“I-77 traffic delays are expected to continue into the evening and may impact other major roads and highways throughout South Charlotte,” according to a CMS statement.

Families of students who ride CMS buses should check the “Here Comes The Bus” app for updates on their child’s location and anticipated arrival time, CMS advised.

Families traveling by car should check their phone’s navigation app for tips and alternate routes, according to CMS.
