Officials reveal the suspected cause of a crash-landing at an NC airport on Friday
A pilot survived a crash-landing of a single-engine plane Friday at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, a City of Concord spokesperson said.
Firefighters “provided basic life support” to the pilot, who “refused treatment due to lack of injuries,” city spokesperson Lindsay Manson said in a news release.
The pilot of the Cirrus SR22 plane crash-landed at 3:47 p.m., and firefighters arrived within a minute, Manson said. No one else was aboard the plane, she said.
Preliminary reports indicate the landing gear appeared to have failed, according to the release.
The airport was closed for about 1 1/2 hours during the response and investigation. The plane was moved from the runway.
Emergency officials notified the Federal Aviation Administration about the crash, “and the exact cause is under investigation,” according to the city news release.
