Charlotte-area hospitals welcome first babies of 2023 born on New Year’s Day
A handful of families in and around the Charlotte area welcomed the first babies born in 2023.
Several babies were born on New Year’s Day in the Atrium Health network of hospitals in Charlotte and surrounding counties, according to an Atrium news release on Sunday.
The first baby was born at 12:09 a.m. at Atrium Health Cleveland, the release said.
A few hours later, Tyson Bishop was the first baby born in Mecklenburg County at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, the release said. Tyson was born at 2:30 a.m. to Amanda and Clint Bishop. He weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces.
Both families are doing well and excited to welcome their new additions, the hospital system said.
In Rock Hill, Ryett Calon Lukens was born at 12:33 a.m. to Rhiannon Gammack and Stephen Lukens at Piedmont Medical Center-Rock Hill, a hospital spokesperson said. Ryett weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 20.75 inches.
Ryett’s parents were described as overjoyed and said being born on the first day of the year will be a great story to tell, the spokesperson said.
