Gas line break shuts down W.T. Harris Boulevard for at least six hours, police say

W.T. Harris Boulevard is closed in both directions near IBM Drive in the University City area due to a gas line break, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in an alert issued at about 1 p.m. Friday.

It will take at least six hours for the road to reopen, police said. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
