One dead in Charlotte after being hit by Amtrak train 

One person died after they were struck by a train traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte at 1:15 p.m., according to Amtrak.

One person died Thursday after they were struck by a train traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte at 1:15 p.m., according to Amtrak.

The train hit the person near Eastway Drive, by North Tryon Street and The Plaza, according to Medic.

None of the 80 passengers or crew aboard Amtrak train 75 were injured, said Kimberly Woods, an Amtrak spokesperson. Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate.

Medic turned the investigation over to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said Medic spokesman Lester Olivia.
