Someone won a $2 million prize Saturday after buying a Powerball ticket at a Wadesboro convenience store.

The winner, who has 180 days to claim their prize, bought the $3 Power Play ticket at a Speedway on East Caswell Street.

The lucky person was the 1 in 11.6 million who matched all five numbers to win a $1 million prize, that was then doubled because of the nature of the Power Play ticket that multiplies winnings.

The North Carolina ticket was the largest prize nationally in the Saturday drawing, along with two others in Delaware and Texas, according to NC Lottery officials.

No one won Saturday’s $120 million jackpot, which then grew to $131 million for Monday’s drawing.

The winner could choose to take the amount as a $131 million annuity or $66.9 million in cash. The odds of winning a jackpot are 1 in 292 million, according to the lottery.

Players can buy Powerball and Mega Millions tickets at lottery retailers, through Online Play on NCLottery.com and the lottery app.
