West Charlotte shooting under investigation

One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in west Charlotte early Thursday.

The name of the victim, who was shot around 4 a.m. in the 3700 block of Lucky Penny Street, has not been released.

The shooting happened near the Lamp Lighter Inn, near Interstate 85 and Freedom Drive, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
