Granite Falls man accused of operating meth lab

A Granite Falls man has been arrested in Caldwell County on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Eugene Liston Broach III, 31, was arrested at his residence around lunchtime Wednesday when Caldwell County narcotics agents arrived with a search warrant.

Broach is scheduled to appear in court today and is being held at the Caldwell County Jail.

He is charged with two felonies: manufacturing methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep/store a controlled substance.

Agents say they found a “small amount” of methamphetamine during their search of the residence but did not report the exact amount seized.

The lab consisted of a “one-pot” setup, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s office. There were also chemicals and other materials for making the drug in the home.

Methamphetamine is an addictive stimulant that is similar to amphetamine in its makeup.

The Lenoir Police Department and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation also participated in the investigation.

The arrest report says Broach had recently moved to Granite Falls. He is from Columbia.
