More than 3,600 homes were without power in the Dilworth area for several hours Friday morning after a car accident knocked Duke Energy equipment offline, the company said.
Northbound Park Road was blocked off near Park Road Shopping Center before 5 a.m. as crews worked to fix the equipment. Traffic and street lights were out and homes were dark in the area.
The outages were reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. Duke Energy originally said it expected power to be restored by 7 a.m. At about 8 a.m., residents reported that power was restored.
The area affected stretches from the Ashbrook neighborhood in the west to Queens University in the east; and from Woodlawn Road north to Freedom Park.
