CMS superintendent earns $300k a year. Here are the other top-paid district employees

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Crystal Hill — named the district’s new leader in May — leads the way in top salaries at the district.

Hill makes $300,000 annually — $19,000 more than the next-highest paid CMS employee, Andre Mayes.

Mayes, the district’s general counsel, makes $281,000 annually. Multiple district administrators make more than $205,000, including Deputy Superintendent Melissa Balknight, Chief Academic Officer Nancy Brightwell and Chief Operations Officer, Brian Schultz.

Principals round out the district’s top 25 earners, including Ardrey Kell High Principal Jamie W. Brooks and Myers Park High Principal Robert Folk. Each make more than $184,000 annually.
