13 injured, three seriously, when truck crashed into stopped CATS bus in northeast Charlotte
A pick-up truck rear-ended a CATS bus in northeast Charlotte on Sunday afternoon while the bus was picking up a passenger at a stop, the agency told the Observer.
At least three people were seriously injured and 10 others were hurt, according to MEDIC.
One person was being treated for life-threatening injuries and transported to Atrium CMC after a CATS bus wreck, MEDIC posted on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, Sunday afternoon. Two other people have serious injuries, and 10 people are being “evaluated” with minor injuries.
The Charlotte Area Transit System confirmed that the bus driver was among those transported to the hospital.
The status of those seriously injured wasn’t immediately clear Monday.
WCCB Charlotte also reported the crash on social media.
Just after 1 p.m., the pick-up truck rear-ended bus No. 1087 at The Plaza and Covecreek Drive, a CATS spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer on Sunday. The crash happened along route 3 and no service delays are expected as a result of the incident.
The bus was not towed from the scene and is expected to be repaired, the spokesperson said Monday.
