A family called police. Nearly 24 hours later, a missing NC woman was found dead.

A Belmont woman who went missing Friday was found dead in Lake Wylie in South Carolina Sunday, police said.

Brianne Maurine Fry, 26, was last seen Friday around 2 a.m., and her family reported her missing Saturday at 6:20 p.m., according to a Gaston County Police Department news release.

Police searched Sunday around her home at the 2700 block of Lakefront Drive, about 3 miles north of the South Carolina border. They found her body in Lake Wylie at about 7:45 p.m.

Police have not said exactly where her body was found. They are investigating her death but do not suspect foul play, according to the news release.
