Earlier, a driver from Belmont lost control of his pickup truck shortly after 8 a.m. Friday on northbound U.S. 321 in Lincoln County.
Samuel Young, 35, was traveling at a high rate of speed while not wearing a seat belt, Hall said.
Young traveled off the road and into the median. He then tried to correct his steering and traveled back onto the roadway but eventually hit a guard rail on the right side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
