A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle in north Charlotte Sunday, police said.

At 5:54 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers responded to a vehicle crash in the 11570 block of North Tryon Street, according to a news release. That’s close to Interstate 485 and Pavilion Boulevard, near the county line in part of northeast Charlotte.

Officers arrived to find a 2017 Kia Sorento and Kawasaki Ninja ZX636 had crashed.

The motorcyclist, Adrian Lee Taylor Avery, died at the scene, CMPD said.

Police said Avery was speeding, heading north on North Tryon Street when the Kia turned left in his path. Avery was thrown from the bike.

The driver of Kia was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and was found not to be impaired, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information can call 704-432-2169 and speak directly to the case’s lead detective or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com.
